1. Zha Zha Café was established in May 8 of 2004, located in South Luoguxiang with its original site of a small vegetable market in Beijing. It was founded by Li Yue, who graduated from Central Academy of Theatre and Cinema. Inside this less than 60sqm space, you may feel like home, with its old-fashioned sofa, Ming-style furniture and the familiar set-up in our memory. Li Yue’s photography works are just randomly hung all over on the wall. It reminds us of the trace of time, while everything is so usual as well. Such fusion of hutong culture with coffee culture creates a kind of relaxation and an intimacy, making you irresistibly take a break here.
2. XYZ Gallery started the collaboration with Zha Zha Café in May 8 of 2007, establishing the second shop in Guozijian, the imperial court, named
Chenxian Zha Zha café. Based on its original style, this shop adds more artistic elements inside, including Xueyi’s poetry, Feng Zhongyun’s ink wash painting, Shi Jianguo’s silkscreen print, as well as ceramic work by Zen Cat Dongzi, in addition you may see more of our artists’ works at Chenxian Shop. Life with art, or art with life, is so ordinary to us that we can’t live without it, just like the pure coffee. “Let us go to Zha Zha Cafe, the sky of magpie will stay your step.” |
